Setting up a website
How long will it take to setup my website?
The four steps to design you website can easily be done in less than 5 minutes if you are a quick decision maker. The time to design your site largely depends on how quickly you can make decisions and how many times you want to try different combinations. Adding content to your site is really just as quick as you can type or find pictures on your computer. The process is very simple and can be done in a very short time.
Can you help me with setting up my website?
Of course. If you get stuck please contact us by your preferred method. See our contact details page for your options. If you would actually like us to design your Rocketspark website for you please contact us for a quote to make your whole website. We'll use Rocketspark to build your website so the total cost of your website will be very economical and look great. Once your website is setup we'll provide you your own login and password to your website so that you can do your own updates in future for no extra cost.

Can I make my own header graphic?
If you have some basic graphic design skills you will be able to make your own header graphic. The header graphic needs to be 980 pixels wide by 140 pixels high at 72 dpi (dots per inch). Your header graphic is such an important element of your website that it must look great. If you cannot make a header that looks great we recommend that you get us to make a header for you that matches your website. If you already have a logo we will take your logo and integrate it into a custom designed header for only $199. If you do not have your own logo please contact us about getting both a logo and header designed. Price is in NZ$ and excludes GST. Customers outside of NZ may not have to pay GST.
How can I resize my images so that they fit better on my Rocketspark website?
One of the easiest ways to resize an image is to use an on-line image editor such as Picnik. To resize an image go to www.picnik.com and upload the image that you want to resize. In Picnik you can crop (chop bits off) or resize the image (reduce everything by the same proportion). Save your changes in Picnik to create a new image that you can then upload into Rocketspark.
How can I resize my header to 72dpi?
You can use easy an online photo editing service such such as www.picnik.com to resize your header and when you save the image it will automatically be saved with the correct resolution.
What are Rocketspark's terms and conditions?
We have tried to write our terms and conditions as clearly as possible. Please see our terms and conditions page by clicking on the link on the left.
How do I upload a different website header onto my website after my site is complete?
If you want to upload a new header after your website is finished please send us your header and we will load it onto your website for no charge.
How do I change my colour scheme after my site is complete?
If you want to develop a new colour scheme after your website is finished please contact us and we will help you create a new colour scheme and load it onto your website.
Costs and Payment
How much will a Rocketspark website cost me?
$49 per month or $499 per year. The price includes continued use of Rocketspark Admin to make changes to your website, access to new Rocketspark services as they become available, web hosting, 2 email addresses and annual domain name renewal.
If you want us to design a website header using your existing logo the cost for this service is $199.
If you want something for your website that we don't have as a standard feature please contact us for a quote to design it for you.
All prices are in NZ$ and exclude GST. Customers outside of NZ do not pay GST.
How can I pay?
You can pay by Visa, Mastercard or American Express credit cards and by direct credit from your bank account.
What do I get for the monthly subscription fee?
Price includes continued use of Rocketspark Admin to make changes to your website, access to new Rocketspark services as they become available, web hosting, 2 email addresses and annual domain name renewal.
Can I change my payment date?
Yes. You can change your payment date. Just send an email to ask us at support@rocketspark.co.nz.
Am I locked into a long term contract?
Rocketspark simply asks that you give us 30 days notice of your intention to stop using Rocketspark and there is a $35 cancellation fee to cover the cost of your domain name which we have registered on your behalf. Please note that you retain ownership of your domain name. The 30 day free trial has no ongoing obligations, no notice period and we do not ask for any payment details to do the trial.
Can I cancel my subscription if I no longer need a website?
Yes. You just need to give us 30 days notice to cancel your website and there is a $35 cancellation fee to cover the cost of your domain name which we have registered on your behalf. Please note that you retain ownership of your domain name.
Can I become a paying customer with my own website address before the 30 day trial ends?
Yes, you can upgrade your account at any time. Please follow the following steps to upgrade your account:
- Log into the Rocketspark Admin control panel for your website
- Click on the Account Settings button
- Click on the Change to a Different Payment Plan button
- Follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade your account
Once your account has been upgraded we will register your proper website address (domain name) and submit your website to Google. Once your website has been submitted to Google it will take about 3 weeks for your website to show up in search results.
Reporting on visitor traffic to your website
Can I track visitor traffic to my site?
Yes. You can see a huge amount of information about visitors to your site including the total number of visitors, where visitors are from, how they found your site, whether they are new or returning visitors, the pages they view and how long they spent at your site. Your Rocketspark website will use a service from Google called Google Analytics for your reporting. Rocketspark makes it very easy to set up Google Analtytics and you only need to set it up once for your whole site rather than having to set it up for every single page on your site.

How do I get reporting of visitor traffic to my website?
Your Rocketspark website will use a service from Google called Google Analytics for your reporting. Rocketspark makes it very easy to set up Google Analtytics and you only need to set it up once for your whole site rather than having to set it up for every single page on your site.

How do I set up Google Analytics?

Rocketspark features
Can I have links to other websites?
Yes. Setting up links to other websites or to other pages on your own website is very easy. Log-in to Rocketspark Admin, click on the Edit button of a text region and finally click on the Insert/Edit Link button to create a link. For more detailed step by instructions please refer to our Rocketspark Admin user guide.
What if I need a feature Rocketspark doesn't offer?
Please contact us to discuss your requirements and we will prepare a design quote for you for a feature that meets your needs.
How many pictures can I have in my photo gallery?
Your photo gallery can have up to 15 photos and you can have a photo gallery on every page of your website. We are currently working on refining our gallery feature and in future the gallery will have a greater capacity.
Please note that the photo gallery is a specific tool that automatically creates thumbnails of your images and presents the photos to your website visitors in a photo viewer. You can also add photos to your site that are not part of your gallery and you can add as many non-gallery photos as you want to.
Can I play videos on my site?
Adding videos to your site is not yet a standard Rocketspark feature but can be done as a custom task by us. Please contact us for a quote to put a video onto your site. Alternatively, you could place your video on You Tube and then have a link from your website directly to You Tube.
Can I have a fancy slideshow header or animations in my website?
Yes, we can design something special for your website. Please contact us for a design quote. Check out www.stuck.co.nz as an example of our work.
How do I make a sponsored link to my website in Google search results?
To create a sponsored link to your website you need to create a Google Account and sign up for Google Adwords. If you are interested in doing a Google adwords campaign we recommend that you check out the information and tutorials www.google.com/adwords. Please also feel free to contact us for assistance if you are interested in setting up an adwords campaign. Google are currently offering a free credit in some countries to conduct your first adwords campaign so it can cost you nothing to see if Google adwords works for you.
What are Google Adwords?
Whenever you do a search in Google you will see that there are often sponsored links at the top and side of the search results. These sponsored links are paid for by the advertiser. Google adwords work on a cost per click basis (CPC). With CPC you only pay Google if someone actually clicks on your advertisement. You bid on what you are prepared to pay for a word or phrase and a maximum budget per month. Google then automatically places the ads when someone searches for the words or phrases you have bid for. Positioning of your sponsored advertisement is determined by Google using a combination of what your bid is and Googles own quality score for your advertisement. Google only makes money if your advert is clicked on so naturally if lots of people click on your advertisement your advertisement will have a higher quality score and you will have a higher placement in the list of sponsored links.

Can I sell products or services directly from my website?
We are currently doing our final stage of user testing of our online store tool. If you would like to test drive our online store tool please contact us.
Adding or editing content on your website
How do I add content to my site?
You add content to your website with Rocketspark Admin. When you set-up your website for the first time we sent you an email to confirm your email address and an second email to confirm that you now have access to Rocketspark Admin. Once you have confirmed your email address you can access Rocketspark Admin via a link in the second email or by going to your website address and entering your login details.
If your site is already online you can access Rocketspark Admin by clicking on the word admin in the footer at the bottom of your website.

How do I add pages to my website
A standard Rocketspark website can have up to 6 pages. If your site does not already have 6 pages you can add extra pages:
- Log in to Rocketspark Admin for your website
- Click on the Add/Remove pages button
- Type in your new page name and click the + button
- Use the arrow buttons to position your page in the correct order

How often can I change my website's content?
There is no limit. With Rocketspark admin you are in control of making changes and can make as many changes to the content of your site as you wish.
What is content management?
Content management is the process of adding content (words and pictures) to your website. Rocketspark Admin is our content management system that allows you to add and update your website content yourself whenever you wish.
Does Rocketspark provide a content management system (CMS)?
Rocketspark Admin is our content management system that allows you to add and update your website content yourself whenever you wish. Rocketspark Admin is very simple to use. Check out our Rocketspark Admin user guide for more information or try Rocketspark Admin yourself by using our 30 day free trial to create your own website.
Can I change my layout, page styles, backgrounds, colours, fonts or logos?
At the moment the settings you made when you first designed your site cannot be changed yourself but if you would like to make changes please contact us and we will help you do the changes. In future you will be able to update these elements of the site yourself.
How long does it take for my changes to become live?
Your changes become live as soon as you click the Publish button to publish some content. Your website remains hidden until you make your website online. You can set your website to be online by logging into Rocketspark Admin for your website, clicking on the account settings button at the bottom of Rocketspark Admin, and click ONLINE.
How do I make my website visible to everyone online?
You can set your website to be On-line by logging into Rocketspark Admin for your website, clicking on the account settings button at the bottom of Rocketspark Admin, and click ONLINE.
Where can I go if I need additional help?
We're constantly updating the support material contained in this website. If you are having any problems please do not hesitate to contact us by email or phone. Please see our contact details for more information.
What happens when the trial ends?
Five days before your trial ends we will send you a reminder that your trial is about to end. We will also send you an email to advise you when your trial has ended. Both of these emails contain a link that allows you to become a Rocketspark subscriber.
At any time during your 30 day free trial you can become a Rocketspark subscriber. Simply go to your trial website, log in to Rocketspark Admin, click on the account settings button at the bottom of Rocketspark Admin and click on Change to a different payment plan.
Once your trial has ended you will no longer be able to access your trial website but we will keep a copy of your website for 2 months following the conclusion of your trial so that your trial website content can be retained if you become a Rocketspark subscriber. To become a subscriber after your 30 day free trial has ended please contact us and we will activate your site.
If you decide not to become a Rocketspark subscriber we would still really appreciate your feedback on what you liked, what you didn’t like and what we would need to do for you to join us as a customer in the future. Please email your feedback to support@rocketspark.co.nz.
Website addresses/ domain names
What is a domain name?
A domain name is also known as a website address or URL and is the name that people type into their internet browser to reach your website. For example our domain name is www.rocketspark.co.nz.
How do I get a website address?
When you register for Rocketspark you type in your desired website address and we take care of everything else. Your domain name is included in your subscription and will be renewed automatically for you every year.
Can I use my existing domain name with Rocketspark?
Yes you can. You need to obtain a UDAI number from your current domain name provider before you complete your Rocketspark registration. When you complete your Rocketspark registration form tick the box which says that you want to use your existing domain name and enter your UDAI number where indicated.
What type of website address can I register?
At present we offer .co.nz, .com, and .org in our standard offering. If you require a different domain name please let us know and we will arrange this for you. Please note that there may be an extra charge on some domain names.
How much does a website address cost?
With Rocketspark the cost of your website is included in your annual registration. Should you cancel your Rocketspark registration there is a $35 charge to cover the cost of the annual website address registration we have done on your behalf.
Do I have to renew my website address every year?
Rocketspark takes care of your website address renewal every year so there is nothing more for you to do.
Can I keep my web address if I leave Rocketspark?
Yes, you retain ownership of your domain name at all times and you can take over the administration of your domain name from us should you cancel your subscription. Please let us know when you cancel your subscription that you would like to keep your domain name.
Increasing visitor traffic to your website / Search engine optimisation
What is search engine optimisation?
When someone is searching the internet for a product, service or organisation they will use a search engine such as Google to find the information they need. A higher ranking in the search results provided by the search engine will give you a greater chance of people visiting your site. Optimising your website to obtain a good search ranking is called Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
How do I get more people to visit my website?
To learn how increase visitor traffic to your website we recommend that you read our Search Engine Optimisation Guide. Our SEO Guide gives you simple step by step instructions for improving your search engine rankings. SEO is one of the most important and free ways to increase traffic. See our user guide menu on the left of this page.
Can you help me with SEO?

Why is my website not showing up in Google
If your website is still in a trial mode with a Rocketspark web address your website will not show up in Google search results. Once your website goes live with a proper website address (domain name) it takes about 3 weeks for Google to index your site. Once your site has been indexed your website will show up in search results.
An easy way to check if your site has been indexed is to do a search in Google for your full website address e.g. www.rocketspark.co.nz.
Web hosting
What is web hosting?
All websites need to be stored on a computer which also facilitates access to the website. This storage of your website is called web hosting. Web hosting is included in your standard Rocketspark subscription.
How big is Rocketspark's web hosting capacity?
Our web hosting capacity is 100mb which should be plenty. In the unlikely event that you do require more capacity we can provide more storage at fair market rates. Please contact us for pricing.
Your details and Passwords
What do I do if I change my address?
You can change all of your contact details by going to your website and logging into Rocketspark Admin. Click on the Account Settings button at the bottom of Rocketspark Admin and then click on Edit Account Details. You will be asked to log in again so that we can process your changes via our secure site.
What can I do if I forgot my password?
Go to the Rocketspark Admin login page, click on "forgotten your password?", enter your email address and your password will be emailed to the email address you provided when you first registered for Rocketspark.
Can I change my website password?
Yes. You can change your password and all of your contact details by going to your website and logging into Rocketspark Admin. Click on the Account Settings button at the bottom of Rocketspark Admin and then click on Edit Account Details. You will be asked to log in again so that we can process your changes via our secure site.
How do I change my email password
Please note that these instructions are to change the password for one email account. If you have more than one email address you must log in separately for each email address.
- Go to www.rocketspark.co.nz/email/
- Enter your email address and password
- Click on the Preferences button
- Enter your new password into both the New Password and Confirm Password boxes
- Click OK to save
- Log out and repeat the process for your second email address
How many email addresses can I have?
We provide you with 2 email addresses as standard. You can choose what email address you wish to have and it will match your site. For example, if your site was www.rocketspark.co.nz you could have an email address such as support@rocketspark.co.nz. If you need more than two email addresses we can provide more email addresses for $5 per month per address.

Can I have my own email address?

Can I check my emails if I am not using my own computer?
Yes. Rocketspark provides a webmail service so that you can access your emails wherever you are in the world with internet access. Please refer to our Rocketspark Webmail User Guide by clicking on the User Guide link on the left of this page.
Can I use my Rocketspark email with an email programme like Outlook?
Yes you can. We have provided detailed user guides for setting up your Rocketspark email with Apple Mail, Entourage 2008, Outlook 2007, Thunderbird and Windows Mail. Please let us know if you are using a different email programme and need help to set up your Rocketspark email with that programme.
If you are not using an email programme you can manage your emails via Rocketspark Webmail, which can be accessed by any computer with internet access.
